Controller

Camas, WA
Full-Time
From $125,000 a year

About Us: Hawk Logistics is an asset-based trucking and logistics company headquartered in Vancouver, WA, with operations across multiple states. We're growing, and we need a hands-on Controller to own accounting across our family of affiliated companies. The Role: You'll run the accounting function for several related entities: separate books, inter company activity, and consolidated reporting. This is a hands-on role: you'll do the GL and close work yourself and lead a small, capable team (Payroll Specialist, AP/AR Specialist) and report directly to the CFO. What You'll Do: Own the month-end close and GAAP financial statements for each entity and on a consolidated basis. Report on department and business line performance in a trailing 52-week format, including KPIs such as operating ratio and cost per mile. Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, eliminations, and shared-cost allocations. Manage cash across entities, maintain a cash forecast, and handle lender reporting. Maintain fixed asset, depreciation, and equipment financing schedules for our tractor and trailer fleet. Coordinate with our outside CPA on tax filings; oversee IFTA, IRP, Form 2290, and WA B&O tax. Oversee AP, AR, and payroll accounting processes and approvals. Build and enforce internal controls and fraud-prevention procedures; lead budgeting and variance reporting by entity and business line. Own QuickBooks Online and its integrations with our operational systems. Prepare schedules for auditors, lenders, and insurers. Supervise and develop the accounting team. What You Bring: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ years at a supervisory or controller level. Real-world experience managing multiple legal entities, including intercompany accounting and consolidations. Strong command of GAAP and month-end close management. Advanced QuickBooks Online and Excel skills. Strong pluses: trucking or transportation experience, TMS/ELD integrations, equipment financing and covenant reporting, and multi-state tax compliance. Details Location: In-office Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00AM–3:30 PM PST Pay: From $125,000.00 per year
